The 8th International Christian Medical Conference, hosted by World Christian Doctors Network (WCDN), was held with the theme "Spirituality and Medicine" in Brisbane Australia on June 11 and 12, and was captured the attention of 220 doctors from 27 nations.
The conference began with a congratulatory message on a screen, delivered by Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, founder and board chairman of WCDN. In his message he encouraged medical doctors to offer their dedication to the enlargement of God's kingdom by leading many souls with their special talents. After his message, Dr. Gilbert Chae, president of WCDN made the opening remarks, and Dr. Mieke Kuiper, director of WCDN Australia and chairperson of the conference organizing committee gave her welcoming address.
Among many divine healing cases presented in this conference, it was remarkably attractive to attendees to see a couple of speakers who had firsthand experience of the healing power of Jesus Christ. Dr. Sean George presented his case in which he had been in cardiac arrest for 90 minutes but was brought back to life through his wife's earnest prayer. A 13-year-old Korean boy Haedong Yeo testified to his healing firsthand on the stage.
Dr. Joonsung Kim made a presentation of various cases of the healing of skin diseases. There were many other presentations on divine healing by the grace and power of the Lord: a young man whose cervical fracture had left him paralyzed from the waist down; a woman who had stopped receiving medication but been healed of prolactinoma by faith; a man who had been dying of cervical and cardiac laceration and was miraculously brought back to life; and a few others who were healed of mClassant lymphoma, serious shock after cholecystectomy, and other diseases.
In addition, various lectures were given enough to renew Christian medical doctors' minds and urge them to make dedications to the Lord. An Austrian doctor Tony Dungy, labeled as a forerunner of Christian medical ethics in Austria, emphasized the significance of medical environments where doctors are not forced to perform euthanasia and abortion but allowed to choose according to their medical conscience, and Dr. Sven Frederick from Denmark announced too many fetuses are killed by abortion and asked medical doctors in attendance to participate in an anti-abortion movement. A few professional lecturers delivered the messages that urged Christian doctors to recover proper medical ethics.
During the conference, Crystal Singers from Manmin Central Church in Seoul gave a beautiful performance including a Korean traditional fan dance and sang dozens of songs in 20 languages. The singers gave a rose to everyone in attendance and the audience was visibly moved. When the singers sang the song "In the Name of the Lord" everyone got up and lifted up their arms to exalt the great name of the Lord, and gave glory to God filled with grace and joy.
