I hope your life will be full of God's blessing, and I want to share grace with you through the message titled with "Humbleness."
Through the law of nature, we are able to understand what God wants to let us know. Just like the boughs that bear most hang lowest, those who have cultivated themselves into a person of good characters become humbler. Even in the Bible, God gives grace to those who are humble and uses them greatly by giving them power.
If we are humble in the Lord, what do we have to do?
First, we have to speak humble words.
This does not mean that we lower ourselves and respect others only with words. It means that we consider others better than us and speak to others with respect from our inner hearts. Those who are humble do not judge others by their own standard and ignore them. They do not cut in disrespectfully when someone is talking.
A humble person listens to others to the last, and does not say recklessly that the other is wrong even though this person's words are not in agreement with him. Instead, a humble person helps others realize the truth by giving them the Word of God which is the right standard of judgment.
When a humble person is advised or pointed out by a little child or by his subordinates, he does not feel offended or insulted but accepts any advice with thanksgiving. Even though it seems he has done nothing wrong, he says, "Amen, thank you. Please pray for me so that I can realize my wrong doings and change more quickly."
Second, we have to lower ourselves and be ready to serve others.
A humble person does not think, "Since I'm at a high position, now I can be served." It is because he knows that Jesus existed in the form of God but took the very nature of a servant, lowered Himself and served even sinners from His inner heart.
Does this mean that in order to become humble, we have to say, "I cannot do anything since I lack many things?" This is nothing but fleshly humbleness. A truly humble person confesses with faith, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me" as recorded in Philippians 4:13, and then actively participates in the work of the Lord with the thanksgiving for the grace of God.
The Great Apostle in New Testament times, Apostle Paul, performed awesome miracles and great power, but he confessed that he owed whatever he had done to the grace of God and the Lord. Apostle Paul could have confessed like the above, for he completely denied himself and had a humble heart to glorify the Lord.
I pray in the name of the Lord that you may humbly examine all your words, deeds, and thoughts, and clothe yourselves with humbleness. |
