A woman who was suffering from her husband's terrible drinking habits was urged by her church's pastor to look for the reasons to give thanks. At first, she forced herself to give thanks, saying, "I give thanks for that my husband is alive. I give thanks because he can find his way home even when he is drunk. I give thanks for he will accept the Lord soon." While giving thanks in that way, after a time she came to feel real gratitude. Finally, she said to her husband, "Thank you for sharing your life with me although I have so many shortcomings. I will be a better wife." Her words touched his heart, and he stopped drinking and actually went to church. As written in Psalm 50:23, the power of gratitude is truly great.
