When stricken with an agony of considerable weight, the person will feel instantly better and lighter in his heart if someone else merely paid close attention to his words. This is because the person listening to him will "be on the same page" and can see and understand things from his perspective. Yet, if a person kept interrupting the words of another person with whom she is conversing or tended to look every aspect of the conversation only from her point of view – in other words, if she is not considerate of others – she will only end up hurting the other person's feeling or ruin the overall ambiance.Especially at a time when love is growing colder and individualism surging, a truthful and comforting word is more needed than eloquence.
"Let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak" (James 1:19).
