Sheep are timid and have a poor sense of direction. When their shepherd isn't around, they are embarrassed and become helpless. They may even fall off a cliff in confusion or be inevitably victimized by wild animals. The Bible likens us to sheep. We are in desperate need of the guidance of the good Shepherd who is our Lord Jesus Christ because we can never tell what will happen tomorrow. When we live in the Lord, we will be guided to green pastures and quiet waters, that is peaceful life with no shortage (Psalm 23:1).
