When they are in lowly positions at work, people are respectful and tend to serve their coworkers; as they move up the rank, however, their heart often becomes arrogant. They become quicker in noticing the shortcomings in others instead of their strengths, frequently point out and scold the faults and mistakes of others, and no longer hesitate to order to have something – a task they would have asked with great difficulty in the past – done for them. People who grow arrogant or get above themselves as they move up the rank at a workplace will not be able to win the hearts of others. Only when one humbles himself in all circumstances and serves others will he be loved and respected by all people.
"Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, But humility goes before honor" (Proverbs 18:12).
