When a man turns to the left or to the right according to the words of his neighbors, we say he has "thin ears." He will act like that in everything he does, so he cannot reap good fruits. But a wise person is prosperous and successful because he relies on God in all his ways and acts in a considerate manner. When his wife, Sarah, asked Abraham to drive out her maidservant, Hagar, and the maidservant's son, Ishmael, he did not act in a hasty and reckless way just because of what his wife asked nor did he decide according to his own self-centered passion. He just followed the will of God and did everything in a wise manner. That's why he was successful in everything he did, and he was called the 'friend of God' and the 'fountain of blessing.'
