There is a great difference between those who seek only for their own benefits and those who are considerate of the people around them when both of them have to make choices. Even if he may suffer some loss, a wise person chooses the way in which he can be at peace with everyone. Abraham, the Father of Faith, did not seek for his own benefit in any situation, but sought what was beneficial for others before himself. That's why in Genesis 13:9, he gave his nephew the priority of choice saying, "Please separate from me; if to the left, then I will go to the right; or if to the right, then I will go to the left." Abraham received blessings in everything because he had never sought his own benefit, but everything he did was done only out of goodness. His nephew Lot, however, fell into predicaments because he had always sought for his own benefits first.
