One day, people brought a woman caught in adultery to Jesus and brought accusations against her. In accordance with the Law the woman deserved to be stoned to death. Jesus stooped down and with His finger He wrote something on the ground. It was the lists of sins the people there had committed. When they saw their wrongdoings on the ground, they had qualms of conscience and, unable to throw stones, they left one by one (John 8:3-9). If we do not see ourselves directly, others' shortcomings come into sight. Jesus helped them realize themselves through the incident.
