The 13th Bible Quiz Contest was held by Men's Mission in the main sanctuary of Manmin Central Church. A month earlier, the contest had preliminary competitions in which 4,208 members participated. The final contest was broadcast live via the Internet and was attended by 57 pastors and members who had made it through the preliminary contests.
The questions were selected from among 365 verses that appeared in the Church Bulletin from August 2012 to July 2013. Various types of questions were given to the contestants. They had to give the right chapter and verse after watching videos, listening to praises, and seeing pictures. They also were given questions requiring choosing a single verse that was different in 'topic' from the others. The questions were all such that the people would only be able to give correct answers if they had not only memorized the verses but also understood the meaning.
Through the two written tests, 12 people were advanced to the final round, in which people who hit their buzzer first were given the opportunity to answer the question. The contestants were often able to give the answer even before the MC finished the question, which proved their outstanding ability to memorize the verses.
As the contest got more intense, the cheering of audience became equally intense. The audience was also given pop quizzes so they could test their abilities and receive prizes. They also drew lots to become lucky winners.
The Grand Prize went to Deaconess Kyehyun Ahn (Daejeon), Golden Prize to Deaconess Sunwoo Lee (Seoul), Silver Prize to Pastor Namsuk Heo (Daejeon), Bronze Prize to Senior Deaconesses Chulsoon Park (Seoul) and Geumja Choi. Deaconess Ahn said, "I tried to remind myself of the Bible verses every moment of my life and engraved them on my heart. It was helpful to me in casting off fleshly thoughts."
The Bible Quiz Contest has been held since 2001 according to Dr. Jaerock Lee's teaching that the members should love the Word of God and make it bread of life in hearts. The contest has been developed under the dedication of the Men's Mission.
