Members from Manmin Central Church have practiced reading one chapter of the Bible and memorizing one verse every day and Verse Memorizing Contest is annually held by Men’s Mission since 2000.
On September 3, the 22nd Verse Memorizing Contest’s final round was held at GCN Studio and live streamed on YouTube. Questions were taken from the 365 verses that appeared in church weekly bulletin from July 1 of last year to June 30 of this year. In the preliminary round 39 people from central church and domestic branch churches passed, and 39 competed in the semifinal, and 22 in the final round.
The Grand Prize was awarded to Brother Myoungchul Kim from Gwangju Manmin Church, Gold Medal to 3 persons: Senior Deaconess Miyoun Lee from Canaan Mission, Pastor Namsook Heo and Deaconess Gyehyeon Ahn from Daejeon Manmin Church, Silver Medal to Deaconess Young-ah Lee from Canaan Mission, and Bronze Medal to Pastor Youngim Cheong and Pastor Jinyoung Jung.
A couple of participants including Deacon Gyeongseok Ko (1-3 Men’s Mission, 2001 Grand Prize Winner) have competed in the final every year by practicing memorizing one verse steadfastly.
