"God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?" (Numbers 23:19)


1. The Beginning of the Church (1980s)

The Founding Service of Manmin Church was held on July 25, 1982. The original members set the spiritual foundation of the ministry with many prayers and fasting before the founding and developed throughout the 80's. We came together and prayed in unity. As the shepherd-to-be I dedicated myself to the Word of God with prayers and fasting. The fire of prayer has never ceased since the church opened. Members prayed 5 or 6 hours a day. God answered prayers by providing all sacred things necessary for the sanctuary including the podium, a microphone, curtains, a piano, and an air-conditioner. God not only provided us with the sacred equipment and finances needed, but He also allowed for tremendous growth in a short period of time.
Thirteen people offered the founding service to God and the establishment service followed 77 days later with 100 people. The number of registered members continued to increase rapidly and passed 3,000 within 5 years of the founding. Our sanctuary was crowded with no chance for expansion. At that time God dramatically worked and arranged for us to move into a bigger sanctuary. The main source of such growth resulted from people meeting and experiencing God through the manifestation of God's power. Many people registered with the Church and became church workers and dedicated servants to the many church organizations such as Prayer Warriors' Mission, Volunteers' Mission, Choirs, Performing Arts Committee, Manmin Prayer Center, and Manmin Kindergarten.
During this same period God revealed and interpreted the Scriptures that helped the church lay the spiritual foundations and became the basis for sermons and books such as The Message of the Cross, Heaven, The Revelation of John, The Book of Job, Spirit Soul and Body, and Difficult-to-Understand Verses. The revelations were God's answer to me for 7 years of diligent prayer and fasting. These messages are still awakening countless souls all over the world.
God further set many signposts and visions for Manmin. God first gave me the name "Manmin" for the church, which incorporates the full meaning of 'the fulfillment of the evangelization of the nation and the world.' Secondly, He gave us the vision of the construction of the Grand Sanctuary. When we prayed in our first sanctuary of 33 m² (356 ft²), God showed 17 members visions of a great sanctuary given the name 'The Grand Sanctuary.' As my church was accompanied with signs and wonders and filled with spiritual messages we quickly experienced great revivals. Many churches from the whole country requested me to lead revival meetings. And my sermons and testimonies were broadcast throughout the country via Christian radios.

2. Spiritual and Physical Growth of the Church (1990s)

A new era began with the trials of blessing in 1990. My church was in continuous growth in number and spirit. We magnified the name of God and the enemy devil didn't like it. The denomination we belonged to held a special General Assembly and some members of the assembly unreasonably and irrationally declared to deposition me from pastorship. Some attending pastors who witnessed it felt sorry and advised me, saying, "Your church's fast and great growth caused them to become jealous and act that way. So, if you say 'Yes' to whatever they tell you to do and follow it, everything will be OK." But I couldn't do that because I had the knowledge of the will of God and did not dare to compromise with unrighteousness. After this happened, I had to take on a burden that was immeasurable and nearly unbearable. The church and I suffered from severe difficulties, but we forgave the conspirators of their evil.
We treated everything in goodness and passed the trials. God repaid us with the founding of a new denomination that would be able to accomplish the kingdom of God in full measure, not in the name of a church, but in the name of a new denomination. Soon members of the Volunteers' Mission, Ushers' Mission, the Choirs, Nissi Orchestra and many other workers of the church were being invited to many domestic Christian and political events. The church and I spread the fragrance of Christ and we spearheaded national evangelization. We gained great favor from many people.
In 1993, Manmin Church was chosen as one of the world's top 50 churches by the World Christian magazine in the USA. I also became renowned and was invited to lead pastors' seminars and crusades in L.A., Washington D.C., Baltimore, Hawaii, Japan, Argentina, and Tanzania. In Africa, a Manmin Mission Center was founded in Kenya to open the way to African ministry. In 1990s, we moved into new sanctuaries twice, and whenever we held two-week special revival meetings, revival continued and a large number of sick people were healed and glorified God. During some periods of revival, four to five hundred people registered with Manmin Central Church a week. It was recorded as a time of unaccounted explosive growth of the church in Korea.
God wanted the church to grow and change in spirit as well as in number. God really wanted each believer to come forth as a 'grain-like believer' through human cultivation. In the late 1990s, God allowed the church to go through three major trials that would separate the chaff from the wheat and also uproot the tare-like believers from among the wheat-like believers. After passing these three trials, I was given greater power by God. It was a mark of His love for me.
So that the church would be able to accomplish His providence, God caused the church to grow not only in number but also in spirit. When I saw the wicked on the path to death because of the severe evil they had caused toward me and this church, I felt the pain and mourned for them. Still no one in our church fought against them with evil for evil. Instead, we prayed for them and repaid their evil with goodness. The fruit we came to bear after passing all these trials was beyond the imagination.

3. The Spreading of the Gospel to Every Corner of the Globe (2000s)

The miracle of turning the salty water of Muan into sweet water highlighted the year '2000'. In the aftermath of the trials, Manmin Central Church began to spread the holiness gospel and manifestations of God's power all over the world. In 2000 Manmin Central Church also kicked off the era of active world evangelization by holding the '2000 Uganda Holy Gospel Crusade' in which manifestations of God's powerful works took place. The three trials previously mentioned urged us on to spread the gospel to every corner of the globe. We have since tried our best to evangelize both people and nations with the holiness gospel and demonstrate God's powerful works.
I conducted mega-size crusades in Uganda, Japan, Pakistan, Kenya, the Philippines, Honduras, India, Russia, Germany, Peru, Democratic Republic of Congo, and the United States. Tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and even millions of people gathered for the crusades. 'God the Creator is Alive' and 'Jesus Christ Is the Only Savior' were proclaimed. When I prayed for the sick after preaching, amazing power of the Holy Spirit was manifested. By the power of God countless people were healed. Evil spirits departed, darkness disappeared, and the dead were brought back to life. Idol-worshippers converted to Christianity. In 2007, by the fiery works of the Holy Spirit, the gospel of Jesus Christ began to be spread in Israel, 'the remotest part of the earth'. For 3 years after that, I traveled all over Israel and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ not only to Christians but also to non-believers in Christ.
In 2000s, the door to the broadcasting ministry was opened wide. In the May of 2004, Manmin TV and seven other overseas broadcasters organized a worldwide Christian broadcasting network under the name of 'Global Christian Network.' On July 25, GCN TV experimentally broadcast its programming produced by Manmin TV on Channel 17, a publicly aired TV channel in New York City. In addition, World Christian Doctors Network (WCDN) and Manmin International Seminary (MIS) were organized and these two organizations have supported Manmin Church to accomplish world evangelization more actively. Dozens of books of the holiness gospel authored by Dr. Jaerock Lee have also contributed to the fulfillment of the world mission.

4. The Beginning of the Third Stage of the Takeoff (2010)

Manmin Central Church has tried her very best to evangelize the nation and the world. We have dedicated ourselves to seeking and accomplishing the kingdom and righteousness of God as commanded by the Lord. Everything was supervised in the plan of God who let us reap abundant blessings.
God blessed this year as 'The Year of Reaping' and 'The Beginning of the Third Stage of the Takeoff.' God promised we would be reaping whatever we had sown and as promised, many church members received great blessing and gave testimonies. God wished for every single believer to prepare a vessel worthy to receive blessings and provided for them to measure their faith. He began giving each of those who had prepared their vessels blessings according to their preparation.
The reply was received by the church for the Canaan Sanctuary construction finances. God has often said the construction of the Canaan Sanctuary is the beginning of the construction of the Grand Sanctuary. God's plan for the Canaan Sanctuary is being fulfilled through the unceasing power of God manifested through this church. Countless works performed by His unlimited power have been making things possible that are impossible in reality. God opened the gateway to the spiritual spaces and displayed amazing miracles with His power. Now let me introduce a few examples of such unceasing power.
The world has recently suffered from various natural disasters and abnormal changes in the weather. Last May, the 7th International Christian Medical Conference, hosted by WCDN, was held in Rome, Italy. Shortly before it was to begin Icelandic volcanic ash caused wide-ranging restrictions on flights in the UK and many other European countries. When I prayed for the prayer request sent in faith by the Organizing Committee of the Conference, the ash from Icelandic volcano stopped and the Conference convened as planned.
In late May 2010, there was heavy rainfall in China. Many major rivers in China including the Yangtze, Yellow and Songhua Rivers were at dangerous flood levels. The Jialing, Han and Huai Rivers surged past warning levels. Jilin Province, where flooding first started in June, was one of the worst-hit regions in China due to rain and landslides. By July 20th a provincial record of over 1,000,000 people had been evacuated and more than four million were affected. There were 62,000 houses destroyed and 193,000 damaged. The economic losses reached 45 billion yuan in the province. In this disaster, Huadian, a city in Jilin province in northern China was miraculously protected by God's intervention when I prayed according to the prayer request sent from there by faith.
During the first week of August, we held the summer retreats in several areas in South Korea. The Weather Forecast Center of South Korea announced heat warnings for the week. God set apart these places for our summer retreats and allowed us to enjoy the 2010 summer retreat in the best and most comfortable weather. And He opened the gates to the spiritual spaces and swarms of dragonflies appeared through the gates, so that we could celebrate the summer retreat without any harm from mosquitoes. In latter August those who visited the Muan Sweet water site enjoyed clear skies in the clouds under the influence of a tropical storm. The 2010 summer retreat was also marked by the participation of hundreds of pastors, missionaries and brothers and sisters from overseas countries.
The limitation of the power of God is beyond measure, and the power moves even the hearts of unbelievers and world authorities. Now God is moving the heart of authorities and powers across the globe to materialize the construction of the Canaan Sanctuary and the Grand Sanctuary. In other words, God is manifesting His unlimited and almighty power in this end time of the ages which is full of chaos and imbued with sins and evils, so that the world, even including unbelievers, may acknowledge the existence of God. God is also engraving His mercy, forgiveness, and unfailing love onto the hearts of many souls. In brief, God is not only making the door to salvation for countless souls open wide, but He also refining and guiding His children to come forth as God's true children worthy to enter the City of New Jerusalem.
During the 28-year history of Manmin Central Church, we have met with joyful things sometimes and mournful things at other times. At any moment of the history, the faithful God never lost the joy that He had harbored and enjoyed at the founding of this church whether the church was in blessing or in trial. It was because God knew Manmin Church and I, even while in trials, would be overcoming any kind of trials and bearing many more fruits with the greater power given by God. God expected the believers of Manmin Central Church would be changing by the truth and coming forth as the grain-like believers so that they would be able to completely fulfill all God's plans established in providence for this church.
God has guided Manmin Central Church with His delicate touches. He will elevate the church to a higher level and fully accomplish His providence for the church. He will also carry out His plan for each and every believer as He promised in the Bible. It will not be long before He will fulfill all the providences, exult over us with joy, rejoice over us with shouts of joy and repay us with valuable rewards.
