Lamp of Life

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105).

Just as the psalmist said, the Word of God in the Bible is a lamp that shows the way in darkness so that we can be knowledgeable of what to do in this dark world and it leads us to the right path. This is because it contains wisdom and understanding that are keys to solving every kind of problem in our lives.
With the love of the Lord who desires all men to be saved, Dr. Jaerock Lee has consistently posted columns that present indispensable contents for our lives in the Word of God in many different daily Korean newspapers such as Chosun Ilbo, Joongang Daily, Donga Ilbo, Hankook Ilbo, and Kyunghyang Shinmun.
His columns have given new hope of life to those who have attempted suicide and they have provided rest and true food for souls for all ages. Here are some of those columns, through which we hope you will receive great grace.

His Love
"We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." (1 John 4:16)
We feel happy when we see the beautiful creatures of the heavens and the earth—everything in them. We find happiness in the goodness found in the hearts of others. How happy you would be if you achieved the heart of God who is the origin of all beauty, goodness, and love! God-given love is peace that sets us free from pain, and it is also brightness and hope that drive the dark away as well. It is joy that casts out sorrow and it is comfort that wipes tears away. It is also the source of vitality that lightens our body and hearts when we are weary and experience times of difficulty. I hope you will enjoy each day filled with true peace and joy in the love of God.

Sea-like Heart
"Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 2:5)
In the sea, a variety of living creatures are harmonized in coexistent living. The sea accepts anything that flows into it. If it is dirty, the sea purifies it so that other creatures can live.
Every person has different size of heart-vessel. Persons with a 'big' heart graciously accept a diverse array of people, favoring not just persons that have something in common with them. If such a heart is accomplished in you, you will collect others' opinions and carry out all works without insisting on yourself. Then, all things will be achieved successfully.
What's noticeable is that the size of heart-vessel is not limited. To the extent that our hearts resemble that of Jesus Christ, it can become bigger with no bound and we will be able to understand and love all people.

Beautiful Voice and Wings
"For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God." (Hebrews 3:4)
The soft and clear sounds of birds refresh the heart of the listener. Their wings enable them to fly freely in the sky. Why did God allow birds to have such beautiful sounds and wings?
This is because God treasured all creatures during His Creation and put certain capabilities in each one of them. He gave beautiful voices to birds to show His heart which delights in praise. He also gave them wings so that men can feel the existence of different dimensional worlds. In this manner, He put His heart and intention toward mankind in even a little bird. That is why men naturally look up into the sky when birds fly.

Accumulated Strength
"Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor." (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
A snowflake is too light for us to feel its weight. When snowflakes are piled up, however, branches are broken or become bent under the weight. Sometimes they cause massive avalanches. In the same manner, a mere thought, a word, or an action that seems to exert no influence can accumulate in our daily lives. They end up having tremendous impact on our lives.
Also, one person's strength seems very weak, but the strength of many can be exercised with astounding power. So we must not say, "It's just a trivial thing" or "It's just me. It does not matter for me not to practice it." We must say, "It's a big deal" or "It's I who has to practice it."

The Fragrance of Heart
"The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil." (Matthew 12:35)
Just as a fragrant flower attracts bees and butterflies, persons with the aroma of goodness draw many people.
Their service, consideration, and sincere love from their good hearts give out fragrance. People can enjoy pleasure and peace around them. God who is goodness itself delights in such persons.
Among innumerable people, God's eyes remain fixed on those who think of goodness, speak good words, and show deeds of goodness. He is always with them wherever they go and allows them to dwell near the throne of God in the eternal Heaven.
