[Nissi Orchestra] Spirit-filled Symphony of Praise! 16th Anniversary of Nissi Orchestra
The Nissi Orchestra, an institution that has made a tremendous amount of contribution to the development of Christian culture, celebrated its 16th anniversary and gave glory to God with a special performance on Sunday, March 2, 2008. Established on March 1, 1992, the Nissi Orchestra (Gwan-Hyung Cho, Conductor), is the first of its kind in Korea to specialize in Christian music to magnify God. Nissi has been invited to and performed on more than 100 occasions, including overseas crusades, National Breakfast Prayer Meetings, goodwill concerts at foreign embassies, the Opening Performance of the 2002 World Cup Friendly Match between South Korea and Japan, a variety of nationwide Christian events including "The 1992 World Explosion Crusade of the Holy Spirit," a variety of charitable events hosted by social and cultural organizations. The Orchestra has also produced and distributed numerous high-quality albums to help promote cultural mission work and has received great attention in Taiwan and India after releasing live-performance albums. Early on, the personality and the level of faith of each member were vastly different and it took some time for them to become one. As their faith grew, however, they began to perform in the heart of service and love for each other, propelling each of them to be an integral part of a unit that has been adored both at home and around the world. "Nissi is the only civilian orchestra in Korea with more than 7,100 square feet of orchestra and choir rooms, and individual practice rooms," observes Conductor Cho. "As the most renowned Christian orchestra with 120 members, Nissi will devote itself to a more wide array of performances in order to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world and proclaim the glory of God."
