Elder Joonhwan Jeong, age 53, Parish 28, Manmin Central Church


In December 1997, my wife Senior Deaconess Hyekyung Kim and I registered in Manmin Central Church. I tried to take after Senior Pastor and rely only on God with faith all the time as I saw him love God foremost of all and live by the Bible

I majored in animal husbandry at Gangwon University, and worked in the field for thirteen years. I wanted to find a more promising job and in August 2007, I entered Jung P&C Institute which is a swine consulting organization. Early on in 2017, which is my tenth year for the company, I received the Animal Health Citation from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province in recognition of my contribution to the achievement of Animal Health and Hygiene Policy and the development of the livestock industry.

When I look back on my past life, I feel so thankful. When I believe and obey Him, God always made the way for me and even a crisis turned into an opportunity by His grace. I prayed in Daniel Prayer Meeting every night even though I went on a business trip often and had heavy work load. I prayed for me to deal with everything in goodness. I started to get recognition in the institute so I was in charge of importing breeding pigs and received incentive for the first time after I developed a system for HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) to manage food safety and take preventative actions.

In 2009, my institute was chosen as an excellent consulting company, and I was invited as a HACCP lecturer to the Livestock Hygiene Academy and Farming Technology Center, and I gave lectures in college. When I instructed people, I had the handkerchief of power on which Senior Pastor had prayed (Acts 19:11-12) and tried my best. When I relied on God, He gave me a good idea and I was blessed to make contracts without drinking alcohol with my clients.

I solved all problems by talking to Senior Pastor and receiving his prayer. In 2011, foot-and-mouth disease hit Korea and spread all over the nation. It caused approximately three million livestock to be buried alive and the number of pigs dropped. I received Senior Pastor's prayer and in the guidance I was able to import around six thousand pigs. I gained more recognition from my institute and got promoted as a member of board of directors.

Meantime, in 2014, I met with an opportunity to be spiritually awakened. Senior Pastor touched my heart being sorry for my slow spiritual growth and said, "What is the use of making much money? What would you do if God turned His face from you?" I repented with tears and began to work faithfully as a small group leader and a cell leader that I had neglected. As I armed myself with the Word, I could find my shortcomings and tried to become sanctified. I felt my heart renewed and regained spiritual fullness.

In autumn of 2016, avian influenza was pandemic in Korea and it led to a mass cull of 30 million chickens. I thought God had prepared something for me just as done in the outbreak of FMD in 2011. I made up my mind to do something for it and asked Senior Pastor about importing eggs and chicks. Then, Senior Pastor said, "Go ahead and get it done!" and gave me conviction.

It didn't seem easy in reality and nothing was seen, but only with faith I pushed ahead with cooperation with an American company that exports their eggs. On January 8, 2017, I imported eggs from them and sold them to Korean big marts. By doing so, I could help stabilize the price of local eggs that had been skyrocketing. Hallelujah!

Even though we are living in the world full of uncertainty and things are unpredictable, I have experienced everything going well because I am in the shepherd's space God allowed for us. I give all thanks and glory to God who leads me in the way of blessings all the time.
